The Abstract Realism approach to Landscapes
When I paint a landscape I want to feel the beauty with colors. I love the autum leaves and the colors and i just love the coolness of the water I often dream about walking a creek path. When my kids were little I would take them to slide rock by Sedona AZ. We all palyed in the water for hours. The icy cold water comimg down from the mountains felt great on a hot summer day. then we would just sit on the hot boulders next to the creek. This was a memory I will cherish with my girls. Now that they are grown and gone I miss those days. Painting the water and the trees and oceans from many vacations bring back those wonderful moments in time.
Painting in the style of Abstract Realism seems like opposites. But, normally many artists use this to create by doing an abstract background and then adding realistic or recognizable subjects. I sometimes choose the opposite approach and add detail to the background while making the foreground a bit more abstract In my opinion I'm already tired of AI taking over the artistic process so this way you know that it is an original Jeannette Westmoreland and not something AI would come up with.
